March/April (At Home/At School) Nevada Citizenship Report

What: Nevada Research Report

Due: April 13, 2011 (Wednesday)

Points: 100 points Social Studies, 100 points Writing, 100 points Speaking (Presentation)

 

  1. Choose a Nevada early settler, explorer, symbol, historical event or place, etc.
  2. Research these items from the Internet or library books (we will be doing some research during school):
    1. Birthdate and day deceased/Day built/Day became important
    2. Background information
    3. For what was this person/place/event/symbol famous?
    4. What, if any, important contributions did this person/event/place make to Nevada?
    5. Any other interesting facts.
  3. Take the researched information and write a report divided into 4 sections (rough drafts will be written in school only):
    1. Introduction (What is your research about? For what was it/he/she famous?)
    2. Body (Tell about the accomplishments/contributions to Nevada.)
    3. Conclusion (Include anything interesting that you learned.)
    4. Reference Page (List all the references you used to gain information.)
  4. Add a picture at the end on a separate piece of paper. (Hand drawn or printed from the Internet).
  5. Design a cover page including your name, the title of your report, and a picture.
  6. Assemble the report in a plastic sheath folder.

 

Presentation Display: Due April 13th, 2011

We will be giving our oral presentations to 3rd graders. Some type of display needs to showcase your research report. Some examples that you can choose from include:

*Poster-displaying facts/research

*Model

*Computer slideshow presentation

*Dress up as character and present facts

 

 

*** These are the last components for the Nevada Citizenship Award***

However, EVERYONE will be required to complete a report.
